SemiHandmade :: an affordable custom cabinet solution

If you follow me on or , you may have already experienced some of my excitement about this new cabinet solution from SemiHandmade.  Why so excited, you ask?  Because it's a brilliant idea that's been a long time coming.

Homeowners, apartment dwellers, or anyone with a kitchen: Have you ever wished for the ability to simply swap out your cabinet door fronts rather than have to replace your entire kitchen?  I know I have; not that there's anything wrong with the builder's grade, Home Depot cabinets that currently inhabit our space.  But for someone with a taste for "the modern stuff", I've pined for new cabinets that fit my aesthetic yet didn't break the bank.

Enter SemiHandmade.  They'll create custom cabinet doors, panels, and drawer fronts to your specifications that you can install on those IKEA / Home Depot / Lowe's cabinet boxes you already have.  Genius!  And, unlike stock door manufacturers, they hand-select the materials, offering choices you simply can’t find elsewhere else; things like sequence-matched veneers, color laminate on multi-ply, and any number of recycled finds (think baskeball court flooring or old barn lumber)!

The cost for such a custom look?  Only about "30% more than the nicest IKEA doors", which is still significantly cheaper than gutting your kitchen and building custom cabinets from scratch.  If you're interested in this new kitchen solution, be patient.  SemiHandmade is currently only servicing Southern California, but will be taking their brilliance nationwide by the end of the year.
